DARN x Roma Surf Shop Party + 2023 Reflections

From Amelia of DARN and Rob of Roma Surf, THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Roma Surf Shop in Falmouth for our collaboration soiree, the last party of 2023!

We couldn’t have asked for a better turn out. You cleared out Lucky Rod of their pizzas, enjoyed a beer or two courtesy of Harbour Brewing and Pentire Drinks and enjoyed a groovin’ selection of tunes thanks to Teddy (aka Paddle Puss) who travelled all the way down from Manchester just for us. Thank you to the gal gang for heading up our custom embroidery table, adding a bespoke touch to DARN x Roma Surf caps and to everyone who went home with a tote, scarf or tee!

As an extra treat that paid homage to Cornish history and folklore, we had the WAD crew - a Falmouth-based Morris dancing side named after Joan the WAD, Queen of the Cornish Piskies - dancing for us just outside the shop.

There is still a selection of DARN x Roma t-shirts and totes available over on Rob’s website if you didn’t manage to grab yourself one on the night.

And now for a little 2023 reflection…

Phew, what a year! We introduced our first dress design, two-piece sets, took our Supper Clubs to The Peligoni Club in Greece for a second time, wined and dined you all in Cornwall and saw our scarves in Tate St Ives and Tate Britain! Thanks to your orders, our signature silk scarves are being worn around the world, we’ve got a very special collaboration lined up with a certain Cornish lifestyle brand this year and we will be continuing to build the DARN legacy through 2024…

An essential part of DARN is collaboration. We flourish in community and we feel super lucky to have teamed up with a host of fantastic makers and institutions in 2023. It keeps the fire of DARN burning and fulfils our vision to create and share our own designs, whilst providing a spotlight for independent makers and creators.

We want to thank Roma Surf, Ritual Studio, The Pelligoni Club, Stones Bakery, Rebekah Rose, Chef Dan, 45 Queen’s Street Penzance, RAINE and the Tate St Ives for collaborating with DARN in 2023. To be able to play with different materials and mediums, inspirations and visions is what we find so special about partnering with a whole host of folks around the world.

A big part of what we do is shout about other makers, designers, chefs, cooks and all-round doers. If you, or someone you know, has an idea for a dinner party, fun event or creative collab we’d love to hear it! Send us an email or a DM on Instagram and we’ll get the ball rollin’.
